Terms of Use
Last updated: 28 October 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of ClassicBooksLibrary.com (the “Library”, “we”, “us”). By using the Library you accept them. You must accept them to create an account or to become a member.
1. The Library
The Library publishes new translations of the most important books of humankind. Every original work in the Library is in the public domain, and the original texts are free of any copyright claim.
2. Our translations and their copyright
Our translations are made by human experts working together with artificial intelligence. For every work and every author, experts establish the glossary of key terms, check the translation against the original passage by passage, and review works of philosophy in particular depth.
The translations, introductions and notes, and the design and arrangement of the Library, are protected by copyright and belong to the owner of ClassicBooksLibrary.com. You may read them and quote short passages with attribution and a link to the Library. You may not copy, republish, distribute or sell them, in whole or in substantial part, in any form or medium, nor use them to train or build other systems, without our written permission.
3. Accounts
You sign in with your email address or with your Google account. An account is personal: you may not share it or give anyone else access to your membership. You are responsible for keeping access to your email or Google account secure. We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms.
4. Membership
There are two plans. Annual membership costs US$19.90 per year; lifetime membership costs US$99.90, paid once. Both give access to the complete text of every work in every language of the Library and to downloads in PDF and EPUB.
Annual members may download up to 12 books in each membership year. A book counts once: after you have downloaded it, you may download it again in any format and language without counting it again. Lifetime members download without limit.
Annual membership renews automatically each year. You can cancel the renewal at any time; your membership then continues until the end of the year already paid. Lifetime membership requires no further payment.
5. Downloads
Downloaded books are for your personal reading. You may not share, upload or redistribute them. Downloaded files may carry information that identifies the member account.
6. Payments and refunds
Payments are processed by our merchant of record, Dodo Payments, which handles payment, billing and taxes as the seller of record.
Membership is digital content delivered immediately: full access begins as soon as your payment is confirmed. All payments are therefore final and non-refundable. By completing a purchase you request immediate access and acknowledge that you thereby waive any right of withdrawal, to the extent permitted by law.
7. Privacy
We collect only the email address with which you sign in, and we use it solely to provide your account and membership: signing in, membership status and download records. If you sign in with Google, we receive only your email address.
We collect no payment data. Card and billing details are handled entirely by the merchant of record and never reach us. We do not sell or share your email address, and we do not send you marketing email without your consent.
We use one strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. You may ask us at any time to delete your account by writing to [email protected].
8. Acceptable use
You may not copy the Library by automated means, circumvent its access controls, or interfere with its operation.
9. Liability
We take great care over the accuracy of our translations and the availability of the Library. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Library develops. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell members by email of any change that materially affects their membership.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any dispute arising from them or from the use of the Library is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
